I have confidence~

What will this day be like? I wonder.
What will my future be? I wonder.
It could be so exciting to be out in the world, to be free
My heart should be wildly rejoicing
Oh, what's the matter with me?

I've always longed for adventure

To do the things I've never dared
And here I'm facing adventure
Then why am I so scared

A move across the country

What's so fearsome about that?

Oh, I must stop these doubts, all these worries

If I don't I just know I'll turn back
I must dream of the things I am seeking
I am seeking the courage I lack

The courage to live with self-reliance

Face my mistakes without defiance
Show them I'm worthy
And while I show them
I'll show me

So, let life bring on all its problems

I'll do better than my best
I have confidence they'll put me to the test
But I'll make them see I have confidence in me

Somehow I will impress them

I will be true and kind
And all those people (Heaven bless them!)
They will look up to me

And mind me with each step I am more certain

Everything will turn out fine
I have confidence the world can all be mine
They'll have to agree I have confidence in me

I have confidence in sunshine

I have confidence in rain
I have confidence that spring will come again
Besides which you see I have confidence in me

Strength doesn't lie in numbers

Strength doesn't lie in wealth
Strength lies in nights of peaceful slumbers
When you wake up -- Wake Up!

It tells me all I trust I lead my heart to

All I trust becomes my own
I have confidence in confidence alone

Besides which you see I have confidence in me~!

So yeah. I try not to tweak lyrics and post whole songs on here but I think I just need to keep singing this for a while. I mean, those were simple changes and it just fits so well, I couldn't help it. When I'm feeling good, this is how I feel inside. And if I wasn't living with chronic bitch-face you might be able to tell that more often.

But I want to do something today. Don't know what. I haven't been to sleep and I'm concerned that I'm not tired yet, but that's neither here nor there. I'll probably just work for most of the day (as long as I'm awake). I meant to sleep. I really did. But then I didn't. Still not sure how that happened.

Just kinda wanted to spring that on you guys and have it here so I can go back to it... An with that out of the way, I'm going to go try to do something productive. Wish me luck~

Oh, What a Tangled Web We Weave.

That has nothing to do with this post; I just thought it sounded cool.

But anyway... The first three chapters of what I just call The Book are with a beta reader currently and I'm just waiting to be told what to fix, basically.

Lithium has been stuck in my head all day. Mainly because it's become the song I associate with Cityside (the short story) for some reason. Also, I realised something: Actual strangulation with intent to kill is really difficult to write well when one party is drugged and the other is insanely calm and kind of lovey about the whole thing. I’m also a tad concerned that problems like this are normal for me…

There's a research-heavy project that's been running in my brain. It's nothing much, just a novella series (currently titled 'The City of Dis'). It's meant to take place in most major cities around the country and to some degree around the world (just not all at once, obviously), following a musician and lower-level demon. And no, I don't know what to do with my brain at times.

So, right now, I'm listening to Tiger and Bunny character songs (and kind of in shock because OMG this song) and trying to make myself work. That's going about as well as can be expected.

Oh, well... Onward to mediocrity!

Well, I feel awful.

And I'm not sure why. I was sitting out at the kitchen table for a while but I can back into my room after about an hour or so. I feel a little better in here, at least.

AugNo story is sent to 'beta reader roommate' and I'm just hoping it's fixable right now and that I don't suck as bad as I think I do. (I'm not good with the whole self-esteem thing right now.) Aside from that not much has happened. I want to start with short stories a little more aggressively and I have a list of horror and sci-fi mags that I can send to.

Things just feel weird for me today. I think I just need to curl up in the dark and write for a while. I have too many ideas in my head most of the time... At least Camp NaNo is at about 40k. That helps a little ^^

I'll try and update this again when I'm a little less 'I hate you go die' about things. Thankfully, these moods don't seem to last too long, overall.

*poke*

I don't have a lot to say here.

I've been playing around with sites like jamendo to see if I can't make up a soundtrack for my projects. I spent a little while working on one for Faust and I found some really awesome stuff. It's fun but it's kind of a time-waster. I do have several tracks that sort of help me focus on it though, (Nick's Theme in particular) so I guess it's not all bad.

I'm mainly just typing because I'm really not feeling well (like the, 'nobody likes you anyway so why are you even bothering? All you ever do is screw up. I mean, I'm brilliant. It's just an objective fact but I hate you. It can't be for no reason. You must deserve it.' kind of not feeling well) and my roommate made me cry. I don't think she realised it though. For some reason what she said really hurt. I'm not even sure why.

Oh, well. It happens sometimes. I'm not mad about it or anything.

JulNo's going well, at least. If it stays like this, the finished product might wind up somewhere between 100 and 120k. So that's kind of awesome. There's more to the story than I thought there was and Mercedes is becoming a pretty cool character all around.

I have a sticky note on my desktop that just says 'Don't sleep. If you sleep, you lose.' It's kind of creepy, actually.

So, at 2:30 in the morning, I'm going to sit here, keep typing and try to make myself sick on potato chips. Hope you guys are having a better day.

The UIE/PWMWG Accord and Also Billy Franks

First off some news from Ink-Slingaria:

An accord between the Union of Internal Editors (UIE) and the Pro-WriMo Writers Group (PWMWG) has officially been reached at the 2011 International Year of Writing a Damn Lot Conference held earlier this year.

As the write-up in the Ink-Slingaria Post-Intelligencer put it:

Mark Stanly from the UIE made a convincing argument at the opening of the conference but was ultimately talked down by the Pro-WriMo representatives on the grounds that time was much more a factor than plot in times of WriMos and that structure and pacing could always be fixed at a later date. The ultimate blow to the argument came when Miss Tina Sullivan of Wisconsin brought it to the attention of the committee that editing often decreases word count, being the opposite of the overall WriMo philosophy and in particular the International Year of Writing a Damn Lot itself.

After several smaller debates spanning the next few hours an agreement was finally reached: criticising the first draft of your work is no longer permitted by the official IYoWaDL councils.

So it's official.

Adding to my excitement is this: Billy Franks is about to have a book published. If you don't know him, go here. It explains everything a lot better than I can. His book ('A Far Cry from Sunset') goes through the experience of making the film 'Tribute This!' as well as some stories from his musical career. I think this thing is definitely on my reading list ^^
